Montauk, New York
2 hours and 40 minutes to Bentley Hotel
Located in the town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, New York, on the easternmost end of Long Island, the formerly shabby Montauk has recently been immigrated by forward-stylized boutiques and hotels that are getting the better of the rest of the Hamptons with a wonderful and relaxed style.
Known to locals as “the End,” this laid-back Hamptons village offers some of the best surfing in the region. You can rent a board and a wet suit then drive over to Ditch Plains beach for a lesson with well-known, local instructor Corey Senese.
When you’ve had your fill of surfing the waves, you might be hungry. Load up on delicious goodies at the popular food truck serving breakfast burritos, addictive Asian sesame noodles and Zen Blend iced green tea. Before heading back home you may want to join the crowd in town at the Montauket, a local hangout where you can sip beer while watching the sun set on the horizon.
Another popular attraction is the Montauk Point Lighthouse. It is located adjacent to Montauk Point State Park, at the easternmost point of Long Island. The lighthouse was the first to be built in New York State and the first public works project in the United States. It is the fourth oldest active lighthouse in the United States and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated as a National Historic Landmark for its significance to New York.
Additionally, Montauk is also brimming with numerous vintage boutiques and eateries, like Screaming Mimi’s and tasty surf cuisine at The Gig Shack.
Montauk is 2 hours 13 minutes to JFK International Airport.
